Robert Forst and SR Surprise Party win the open AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge in Houston
Robert Forst doesn’t just ride horses bred by an AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder. It’s his family’s – more specifically, his mother’s – ranch that bred the horses on which he placed first and second in the open division at the 2013 AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge, sponsored by Bar G Feedyard, at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Aboard SR Surprise Party, aka “Queso,” Robert scored a 653.5 to win the open. The 2009 sorrel gelding (Quejanaisalena-Dualena by Dual Pep) is bred and owned by Terry Stuart Forst, owner of the Stuart Ranch in Waurika, Oklahoma. The Stuart Ranch is also one of the winners of the coveted AQHA Best Remuda Award.

Finishing third was Seven S Party Girl, owned by Terry Stuart Forst of Waurika, Oklahoma, and shown by Robert Forst. Robert and “Party Girl” were first in the open division of the Ranching Heritage Challenge in January.
Robert was pleased with his horse’s performance.
“Warming her up back here, she was as good as she has ever felt,” he said. “She was soft and relaxed. She wasn’t as good on the first stop as I would have liked, but everything else was good. She was awesome down the fence, but she normally is.”

| JANUARY 2012 - AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge |
Twelve open riders and 19 non-pros entered eligible Ranching Heritage Breeder horses for their share of the $13,500-added purse at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.
“It was a wonderful show,” said Johnny Trotter, AQHA Executive Committee member and a rancher himself. “Nice horses.”
In the open competition, Robert Forst of Waurika, Oklahoma, rode Seven S Party Girl, bred by Terry Stuart Forst of Waurika, Robert’s mom.
“She felt really good,” Robert said. “She’s been pretty strong with me, and then she relaxed. Her circles felt good. I’ve struggled with her left to right lead change, and I ended up messing up her right-left lead change. It all worked out pretty good.
“She got a little strong in her rundowns, but I trusted her and she stopped, so I was pretty happy with her. She can go down the fence, so I’m not worried about that. I just hold on and see what she does.”
